Happy 2 Years | Efficient Media

Well well, we have certainly lived up to our name and grow our business efficiently! You heard it. Simply and efficiently.

We celebrate our two year anniversary this November. From humble beginnings to a rapidly growing team and a new office move in the works, I’m as efficiently proud as I can be. Proud because of the hard work that our key guy, Timothy Paris, has taken it to this height.

In 2016, I took a bit of a backseat with working “in” the business to grow my ministry. I’ve had to juggle much to work “on” the business instead of “in”. With this adjustment, Tim and I have had to find even more efficient ways of growing. Truth be told, it’s not easy. It requires shrewdness and discipline.

From a heavily SEM focussed agency, we have grown to extend our services into more holistic digital solutions, providing our clients with strategic input and executing on action plans in areas such a Social media, Display buys and web development.

We are planning our 2 year birthday party and tying this in with our new office opening, not to mention a welcoming party to a few more new staff to help us expand and grow. So stay tuned!

They say that most small businesses fail within 2 years. I have certainly experienced that first hand myself, too. With Efficient Media celebrating it’s 2nd birthday, I am not only proud of our stable foundations but excited about bringing Efficient Media to new heights!

None of this would have been possible without the support and understanding of our loving spouses and our awesome clients. Thank you all for all of your support, business and awesomeness!

To another year of success! 2017, bring it on !

For those who follow my journey, I’d love to hear from you if you need any help with digital branding, marketing…digital everything!

FAITH, COURAGE & PERSISTENCE | Must Haves in Serving & Business

I’m so honoured to be invited by Fideliz Cruz to be featured on her lifestyle channel recently.

FAITH, COURAGE & PERSISTENCE.
THE MUST HAVES IN SERVING & BUILDING A BUSINESS

Have you seen my interview with Fideliz Cruz? Watch the full episode here:

Here are my tips when serving and building your business:

1) Grace – allowing grace and remembering that we are all made uniquely different – when working with someone that works differently from you, and when you’re faced with a difficult or challenging situation, allow grace and trust in God’s plan.

2) Faith – trust that He [God] has a plan for you. you might not understand when you come across obstacles but keep going with courage.

3) Persistence – “You can not know whether it’s God’s plan or whether you’ve not done enough if you don’t persist. If you’ve persisted and its still not working you know that you can still trust in the plan. But if you didn’t persist and you didn’t give it your 100% you wonder whether it was me or what it was…”

Tweet Tweet, do you Twitter?

Today, I wore my Digital Marketer hat to a breakfast hosted by Twitter’s Australia office.

As a small business owner or owner of small businesses, to be precise, it’s highly relevant to stay on top of the latest on social media and where your customers are ‘hanging out’.  Whether it’s the latest fad (Snapchat, dare I say) or Facebook’s latest acquisition.

What do I think about Twitter?

I love cute Larry, the bird. I love that 1 billion tweets are sent globally every 2 days. I love Twitter staff, the office and their slick presentations.  I do believe in their branding impacts with video. I love that they house the world’s data signals with @ and #.  I love the fact that they came up with the # (hashtags). I do love that they popularised short-form content.

Though from a SMB strategy perspective, if you ask me for an honest opinion on Twitter – I’ll admit that it is my least of priorities on the myriad of Social Media platforms I use.  Not necessarily because it’s ineffective but it has probably lost its relevancy in promoting businesses.  I do realise I’m being harsh here but honesty is the best policy when it comes to helping small businesses prioritise their efforts.   Would I recommend my clients to pay $12K on promoted trends (a hashtag) for a single day?  Yes I would, if they were a large, million dollar business and running a branding campaign.  But definitely not for SMB’s who are focussed on measurable impacts on their marketing dollars that they entrust us with.

That said, Twitter is still a place to be present in for all small businesses.  It’s free to set up accounts and there are quite some smart strategies that are free to help you understand the latest trending topics that your customers are interested in.  In turn, there are some nuggets that you can leverage in there to target your customers.  How?  Ask the experts?

If you lack the time to post separately on Twitter, the least you can do is to link up the account to your more active Social Media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram so that your updates are automatically pushed onto Twitter.   The are also plenty of tools out there which help you manage your multiple platforms in the one place.  The one we like is Hootsuite.   Is it effective then, to be just pushing automatic updates from Facebook to Twitter?  No, it’s not best practise.  But as a small business, we understand that you may lack the time to dedicate targeted messaging on each platform.  In this instance, better to have presence than none at all.  That’s our perspective.  Some will argue otherwise.  We’ll leave it you to test and analyse!

[Update 27th April : Praise the Lord! Thank you for blessing us with beautiful weather that literally, no… like LITERALLY, lasted for just the time the markets were up. The minute we woke to set up and through the awesome day till we packed. The minute we had jumped into our car after packing up, hail storms came! Thank you for hearing my prayers. Also, what a great turnout! I didn’t get to sell as much as I had wanted to but sure did get some good interest, feedback and a few sales. Until next time …]

Yet again, another opportunity for Mr Mysterious to give back to the community. A proud sponsor of Fideliz Cruz Personal Styling, we were extremely happy to be supporting a Christian non-profit organisation, Anchor of Hope. Anchor of Hope helps under-privelidged children in Africa.

Mr Mysterious Pop-up Store | Thanks to Nevillee

First and foremost, thank you to Nevillee (www.nevillee.com) and Surry Hills Pop up for inviting us to be part of the event. Despite having less than 3 weeks to plan for it, the event turned out extremely well.

It was Mr Mysterious’ inaugural pop up store / show room. And it was very exciting. There was a mountain of preparation work to do from a visual merchandising standpoint but with the help of many, we were able to pull together an attractive stand.

We gave everyone a sneak peek of the new perspex jewellery line we are working on and everyone just loved it! We managed to get a few sales from just our sample products. So, stay tuned on http://www.mrmysterious.com.au

We enjoyed seeing everyone’s looks and the feedback on our products. Thanks to all of those who came by to support us and enjoy the catwalk shows and just mingle with a drink or two. I hope all of our enjoyed a memorable event and was able to get some bargains at all participating brand.

Until next time!
