— My Yoga Teaching Style —

My style of teaching is very much about alignment; understanding and appreciating God’s beautiful creation of the human body and learning how to look after this temple (1 Cor 6:19). I like to adapt my classes to the needs of my students and different fitness levels. So, you will often find me asking questions on specific needs or focus areas at the beginning of class. You will also find me interacting with my students to ensure they are making the most of and enjoying their time on the mat - all awhile balancing interactivity with time for students to connect with God or to hold space for personal reflection.

— My Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) with Holy Yoga —

I am a Registered Yoga Australia Teacher. I received my 225-hour YTT in July, 2015 with a Christian Yoga Teaching School in America called, Holy Yoga. Since then, I have also completed my training in Yoga Therapy (being the first Christian Yoga Therapist in Australia), Chair Yoga and Kids Yoga. Having received 800+ hours of training and teaching over hundreds of classes, I am honoured to be serving on Holy Yoga’s Global Leadership Team as their Ambassador for the Oceania Region

— How I Found Christian Yoga —

I started doing yoga in 2007 at gym classes purely as a physical workout. After quitting the gym and no longer having access to the yoga classes, much of my practice was self-taught with a preference for Hatha style and Vinyasa flows at home. My home practice was made possible by learning from an online instructor called Briohny Smyth. 7 years after my first yoga class, my yoga practice became more serious during my 2nd pregnancy during which I practiced every single day of my pregnancy bar days I was sick. It was during that time when I experienced the all-rounded benefits of yoga, which led to an all-natural birth and smooth delivery of my second son.  That experience sparked my dream of becoming a yoga instructor. As I did more research on yoga teacher training, I couldn’t find any courses locally that aligned with my Christian faith. For a period of time, I was so conflicted with different opinions of what yoga is that I stopped practising yoga completely, to focus on what God wanted for my physical health. After taking an 8-month hiatus, I still hadn’t come across any physical programs that gave me the same benefits that yoga gave me.  As I continued to pray about this, God finally led me to Holy Yoga online. In July 2015, I flew to Minnesota, U.S.A, to complete my teacher training and I received my accreditation with Holy Yoga.

In 2017, together with soul sister, Alyssa Mak, we created Grace x Strength – offering sacred spaces for people to come into community to experience God’s grace and strength through Christ-centred yoga and soul care programs.
