Kayla Itsines 12-week BBG Program | For the Postpartum Mum
Finally I’ve survived the 6-week ‘exercise free’ postpartum period. I haven’t exactly gone to the GP yet to get clearance on being able to start my workout. But I have been following Kayla Itsines on Instagram and I can’t wait to start her 12 week Bikini Body Guide. The guides can be purchased here.
This is my second pregnancy and last time, I also started my workout with a personal trainer 7 weeks after I gave birth. I feel like I know my body well and this time round, I am a lot stronger physically and emotionally. My recovery was much quicker and my general well-being is also much better than last time round. Not to mention, I’m much fitter from my yoga practice during pregnancy.
So, I’m confident that I can start this workout already. And, so I did.
Man, does it kill…. I have done my first circuit on my legs and another on my arms. I am sore all over. I can’t wait to see the results in a few weeks.
Hopefully, I’ll have some proud transformation photos to share soon. Stay tuned!
[UPDATE - 9 week’s into Kayla Itsines’ BBG program]
Week 9 progress shot. It has been a challenging journey, this Bikini Body Guide. I'm 9 weeks through and I can't think of doing anything physically harder in my life other than giving birth. And yes, that's a big call.
Nonetheless, here are the results. I have lost 5 kilos so far since starting the program. (Still 3 - 4 kilos away from my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm already starting to be able to fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes, which tells me that it's not all about the weight. It's also muscle mass that I have gained so I should probably stop worrying about the needle on the scales. Easier said than done though.)
I'm actually in my 10th week and unfortunately, I will have to stop for 3 weeks while I'm away on holidays overseas. Not that I intend to do it that way but I just know that realistically and logistically, it will be almost impossible to exercise during those 3 weeks.
Either ways, I am determined to finish the BBG 1.0 guide when I return. And I'm proud to say that the hard work is paying off.
