EXPLORING YOGA

MY APPROACH TO YOGA

My approach to yoga has evolved over more than a decade of practice, teaching and further study. Today, I see yoga as an embodied practice that can support movement, awareness and wellbeing, while also being considered alongside what we know from psychology, neuroscience and health research.

YOGA & EMBODIED PRACTICE

Yoga is one form of embodied practice among many. I explore movement, breath, attention and body awareness in a way that is practical, evidence-aware and grounded in the realities of different bodies, capacities and health experiences.

PSYCHOLOGY, NEUROSCIENCE & PRACTICE

My studies in psychology have changed the way I think about yoga, particularly around attention, stress, pain, learning and the nervous system. I’m also interested in the growing research examining yoga through a neuroscience lens, including work shared through the Neuroscience and Yoga Conference, where I have previously spoken.

YOGA, MIGRAINE & CHRONIC PAIN

Yoga may be useful for some people living with migraine or chronic pain, particularly as a way to support movement, body awareness and overall wellbeing. I approach this area cautiously, with attention to individual tolerance, current evidence and the limits of what yoga can reasonably be expected to do.

TEACHING, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

I have been practising and teaching yoga for more than a decade, with training across general yoga teaching, yoga therapy, chair yoga and children’s yoga. This section brings together my teaching background, training and the experience that continues to shape how I approach practice today.

THE “MINUTE MOMENT”

Sometimes practice doesn’t need to mean setting aside an hour or even getting onto a yoga mat. The “Minute Moment” is a simple 60-second mindfulness practice I developed as a way to pause, notice what is happening and reconnect with the present moment.
