WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

Yoga Therapy facilitates health and healing of dysfunctions in the mind, body and soul.  Each yoga therapy program is tailored towards the individual seeking healing for their personal issue(s), ranging from physiological, trauma, psychological.  To name a few, treatment is available for those suffering from :

  • migraines / tension headaches

  • back pain and spinal-related pain

  • sports-related muscle pains and injuries

  • cancer and cancer recovery

  • eating disorders – anorexia, bulimia

  • trauma

It’s also readily available for those who are seeking a tailored program to enhance a  healthier lifestyle!

Yoga therapy is not always an ‘alternative’ to your medical treatment.  In most cases, it can be combined with your medical treatment program.  In fact, I highly recommend it!  Coming from personal experience and experience working with others.

WHAT DOES A YOGA THERAPY PROGRAM INVOLVE?

A typical Yoga Therapy program that I offer combines breath work, meditation exercises, bodywork techniques and yoga postures.

On each visit, you can expect to be working through the above techniques, tracking your improvement and discussing your healing progress.

There will be assigned ‘bring-home’ exercises that you can easily incorporate into your day.  That’s the beauty of Grace x Strength’s Yoga therapy.  They aren’t just boring 5-10 minute ‘physiotherapy’-type exercises. (Sorry physios!  I’m speaking from personal experiences.  The likelihood of success in doing 5 minute exercises daily is far less likely than engaging in the fun Holy Yoga therapy projects, I have to admit.  But that’s just how I succeeded… )

HOW LONG DOES A PROGRAM RUN FOR?

My Yoga Therapy programs do not encourage a ‘treatment’-type of program whereby there are exercises that run for X-amount of time and YOU’RE healed!  Instead, it introduces  new coping techniques and mechanism to incorporate into your daily lives tailored to the issues you want to address.  Essentially, our goal is to incorporate, change or create new HABITS into your life. Here are some stats:

  1. It takes 7 minutes a day for 7 days to build a thought in the brain

  2. It takes 21 days to transfer that thought into action that your brain can remember

  3. It takes 63 days for an action to become a habit

Given the data, it would be hard for us to disagree that 3 months is a minimum term of the tailored program to get you where you want to be!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Initial consultation – $150 per hour, usually takes 1-1.5 hours dependent on your situation
Ongoing therapy visits – $75 per 30 minutes, a minimum of 30 minutes

HOW DOES YOGA THERAPY DIFFER FROM YOGA CLASSES?

Yoga Therapy is a tailored program designed to help you achieve a goal or address an issue in your life.

Yoga Classes are lessons that are designed for general health and wellbeing, rather than a specific area of mind/body/soul requiring healing.  Yoga therapy is tailored to individual circumstances for healing.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR GRACE X STRENGTH’S YOGA THERAPY?

Anyone, really! I’ve found that with most people, they have exhausted all avenues from various therapy programs. (Myself inclusive!).  They find my yoga therapy classes and they find Jesus.  Then, they find TRUE healing…. It’s all worth a try.
